Test Cricket Tours - Bangladesh to Pakistan 2003

Tour of Pakistan 2003-04                     Captain : Khaled Mahmud

Bangladesh’s seventh Test tour.

   (August 2003)

Second Test-playing tour of Pakistan by Bangladesh

   (previous tour 2001)

This tour followed almost immediately after the return from Australia. The tour party stayed at Karachi's Sheraton Hotel, the same as the New Zealanders were staying in one year before when a bomb went off across the street, causing cancellation of that tour.

The team was uncomfortably reminded of pre-independence struggles over language when tour manager M.A.Latif obliged an interviewer by speaking Urdu who said the Pakistan public could understand him better in Urdu as most viewers would not understand him in English

Bangladesh came closer than it ever had before to winning a Test match, only to lose by one wicket at Multan, a brilliant innings from Inzamamul Haq enabling Pakistan to snatch the third Test match.

Pakistan coach Javed Miandad and captain Inzamam-ul-Haq thanked Bangladesh for leading the return of foreign cricket to Pakistan and showing that cricket could be safely played here. Latif Khan expressed his satisfaction with the security arrangements.
