| Bangladesh’s eighth Test tour. (January - March 2004 Second Test-playing tour of Zimbabwe by Bangladesh (previous tour 2000-01) | In January Dav Whatmore changed the practice of naming the captain first, and then the team. Now, in the Australian practice, the team would be chosen and the skipper picked from its ranks. Khaled Mahmud was dropped and announced his retirement from international cricket, which he was later persuaded to revoke. Under a new captain, Habibul Bashar, the tour party spent a fortnight in Namibia preparing for the tour with four warm-up matches. There were two practice matches against the national under-19 team coached by Richard McInnes. | Return to Bangladesh Harare Q Dhaka | Khaled Mahmud was called up for the ODI series in place of Anwar Hossain Monir and Alamgir Kabir who returned home. On Sunday evening 14 March Mohammad Rafique was sent home early from Harare for disciplinary reasons.
