Selection

 

 

 

A 25-man preliminary  squad was announced on 17 November for a two-day preparation camp.  Of these Taufiq Umar, Shabbir Ahmed, Aamer Bashir, Riaz Afridi, Bazid Khan, Misbah-ul-Haq, Faisal Iqbal, Ashar Zaidi, and Faisal Athar were not in the tour party.

 

Unavailable:    Shabbir Ahmed was ruled out of the tour as had not yet recovered from knee surgery

 

Inzamamul Haq was retained as captain on 21 November.

 

Tour Party Announced :  22 November 2004

 

Mohammad Asif, not called to the camp, was included in the party.   The selectors chose an extra man, Shahid Afridi, in their 17-man squad so he could acclimitise before the ODI series. 

 

Not selected :  as above.

 

 

ODI squad announced  :  4  January 2005.

 

Azhar Mahmood and Mohammad Hafeez would join the tour as ODI specialists, while  Asim Kamal, Danish Kaneria and  Mohammad Asif  would return home.

 

 

 

 

 

Travel

 

The Pakistanis left Karachi on Sunday 27 November 2004 for Perth via Dubai and arrived in Perth on Monday night 29 November 2003. The team went to Perth about three weeks earlier than originally foreseen

Reinforcements

 

Razzaq was complaining of dizziness and being short of breath and was taken to a private hospital

Taufeeq Umar was chosen to replace Imran Farhat, and Rao Iftikhar Anjum to replace injured Mohammad Sami . The other reserve was Bazid Khan.
