Test Cricket Tours - Pakistan to Sri Lanka 2009

Tour of Sri Lanka 2009               Captain: Younis Khan

Sixth Test-playing tour of Sri Lanka by Pakistan

(June - August 2009)

As many as 100 security men and seven specialist vehicles were deployed to ensure the safety of the Pakistan team moving from hotels to the various stadiums.

Pakistan's team was stiffened by the return of Mohammad Yousuf and all rounder Abdul Razzaq, both of whom had cancelled their contracts with the unauthorised ICL (Indian Cricket League)

Shoaib Akhtar, unfit for the Test series with a skin ailment, said he was fit for the ODI matches. His fitness test ended bizarrely without him bowling a ball and he was not considered for the tour.

Shahid Afridi was skipper in the Twenty20 match although vice-captain Misbah was in the side.

After Pakistan's trouncing in the Test and one-day series, former players like Zaheer Abbas, Aamir Sohail and former chief selector Abdul Qadir called for an overhaul of the team and management.
