Fernando, who was soon to join the squad for the limited overs matches in
any case, was flown in on 18 November to replace Thilan Thushara who
returned to Sri Lanka
with a shoulder injury sustained in training just before the first Test. Muralitharan damaged ligaments in his
bowling hand and was rested for the T20s after the Test series but was then
ruled out of the one-day series so as not to make the injury worse. In his place Suraj Randiv Kulahalamulla and
fellow spinner Muthumudalige Pushpakumara,
already a member of the T20 squad,joined
the team in time for the second ODI in Nagpur.
They flew in on 14 December. Dilhara Fernando fractured a thumb in the
first ODI at Rajkot
and had to return home early soSuranga Lakmal was called up. Lakmal flew in
on 16 December. Angelo Mathews also returned home after
straining his right quadricep muscle during the second ODI in Nagpur and allrounder Tissara Perera left the island on 19 December to join the squad. Bowlers
Chanaka Welegedera, retained for the one-day squad, and Lasith Malinga were
also injured but remained with the team and played again in the ODIs. | | | | Fixtures/Results | a | Mumbai | Indian Board President's XI | Abandoned | b | AHMEDABAD | INDIA First Test | DRAWN | c | KANPUR | INDIA Second Test | LOST
