Following Sri Lanka Cricket's policy of having different managers
for tours, Nishantha Ranatunga, who went to Canada
and Zimbabwe
was replaced. On 4 December it was
announced that Mr.Jayantha Paranathala would be Manager and Guy de Alwis the Interim

time for the second Test.

the following eight Test squad players returned to Sri Lanka on 10 January: Dilshan, Prasad, Prasanna Jayawardena, Vaas,
Vandort, Warnapura, Samaraweera and Herath. After
completing their tri-series in Bangladesh,
Sri Lanka's victorious one-day
side flew directly from Dhaka to Pakistan
on Saturday 17 January touching down at Quaid-e-Azam
Airport, Karachi, next day. This tour may be
regarded as the first leg of the Test tour to Pakistan 2008-09. Dilshan was called back into the side and went to Pakistan

Ending a successful three-match
ODI series, the team then rushed back to Sri Lanka (arriving in Colombo from
Lahore on Sunday 25th January 2009) to play five ODI's and a T20 game against
India at home before returning to Pakistan in February for a further international
