Test Cricket Tours - India to England 2011

Tour of England 2011        Captain: M S Dhoni

India's 66th Test tour

Sixteenth Test-playing tour of England by India

 (June - Sept 2011)

India suffered another Test series whitewash against England, as had occurred in 1959 (5 Tests) and 1974 (3 Tests). Things got no better in Australia either where another they suffered another 4-0 loss.

Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni blamed his batsmen for the humiliating 0-4 series defeat at the hands of an expert bowling attack. Former cricketers criticised the team's "abject surrender" to England, blaming lack of athleticism and fitness; too much reliance on over-30s; mental fatigue because of too much cricket (such as the IPL); and a lack of proper preparation.
The series featured some heroic performances from Dravid but the batting of Gambhir, Sehwag, Laxman and Raina was disappointing while the key fast bowler Zaheer Khan was unfit for most of the tour.
