| Travel Mumbai Q Auckland | India were scheduled to leave for New Zealand on 12 January so the
players had only a ten-day break after the South Africa tour, and resisted
suggestions from former players like Dravid that they should participate in Ranji
Trophy quarter-final matches. Captain M S Dhoni gave a pre-departure conference on Saturday 11
January saying the limited-overs series should provide good preparation for
the World Cup in 2015. The one-day
squad flew out of Mumbai early by Singapore Airlines on Sunday. They arrived in
Auckland on
Monday 13 January and took an inter-connecting flight to Napier for the start
of the five-match ODI series on 19 January. A week later the Test specialists left, including Cheteshwar
Pujara, Zaheer Khan, Murali Vijay, Umesh Yadav and the reserve wicket-keeper
Saha. | Time spent in New Zealand x days (13 January - February) | |
