Seventh Test-playing tour of New Zealand by South Africa
(February - March 2012)
South Africa returned to New Zealand for the first time
since 2004. They came home with trophies won in all three formats of the
international game.
There
was a new management team with Russell Domingo and Allan Donald joining the
coaching staff. This was the first tour for twenty years on which Ghulam
Rajah was not manager. His career, most recently as Logistics Manager, was
brought to an end in November 2011 when he reached the age of 65.
Unavailable: Rory Kleinveldt (quadriceps) and Dean Elgar
(knee).

Limited overs squads announced:25 January 2012.
23 players were used in the three formats and only
five players - Amla, de Villiers, Duminy, Robin Peterson and Morne Morkel -
were present throughout the tour.

Travel
The limited-overs team flew from O R Tambo Airport, Johannesburg, on Friday 10 February to New Zealand.
They arrived in Wellington
on 13 February.
Dale Steyn, Graeme Smith, Faf du Plessis and Jacques
Kallis arrived for the ODIs around 19 February before the
end of the T20 International series.
Boucher arrived with the remaining members of the
Test squad on Thursday 1 March.

Reinforcements
Marchant de Lange was
unofficially added to the ODI squad while in New
Zealand, otherwise he would have flown back to South Africa
with the T20 players only to return a week later for the Test series.

Return to South Africa
Richard Levi, Rusty Theron and Colin Ingram got on
the plane to Sydney
at 3:30 am on 23 February, and onwards home after the deciding T20
International.
Justin Ontong rolled over on his ankle and missed the
last ODI, returning to South
Africa on 3 March.
Allan Donald flew home on 24 March; and the Test team
returned to South Africa, departing
from Wellington to Sydney
at 6 am on 28 March to catch a flight to Johannesburg.
They
arrived at Tambo International Airport
back in South Africa
on 28 March.
