The tour party flew out from Heathrow Airport, London, on the afternoon of 21 October, flying Emirates on the first leg of the journey to Dubai for a stopover to satisfy the flight sponsors.  The team spent two hours there and six hours in transit in Singapore and touched down at Perth International Airport after midnight after a marathon 30-hour trek from London.

After customs officials had made them clean their boots and equipment before being admitted, captain Alec Stewart declined to speak to the press until he had taken a rest at the Hyatt hotel.

The one-day specialists  Alleyne, Ealham, Fairbrother, Giles, Adam Hollioake, Knight and Wells flew in at New Year
