| Intended to be 17th West Indian Test tour ( October 1969-
) Would have been second Test-playing tour of Pakistan by West Indies (previous tour 1958-59) | The annual meeting of the International Cricket Conference in London on 12 July 1968 agreed a programme of
international Test tours including West Indies to Pakistan in 1969. Negotiations
with Pakistan for the
short three-Test tour there beginning in October 1969 were formally approved
at aWest Indies’ Board meeting of 9 March
1969. The Board also approved in
principle a request for Pakistan
to visit the West Indies, possibly during
the 1970-71 season. However,
on 27 March 1969 “the West Indies Cricket Board of Control disclosed that
the Pakistan
tour plan had broken down. Peter Short, the Board secretary, said the Pakistan
cricket authorities had failed to meet the required financial guarantee. The proposed return visit by Pakistan to West Indies in 1971 also fell
through and India toured
the Caribbean in 1970-71 instead. | Other
