Ian Botham was given
permission to miss the first weeks of the New
Zealand tour while fulfilling his TV and pantomime
contracts in England.
A shocking incident of the tour was the injury to David Lawrence, while playing in the Wellington Test. He dislocated his knee so badly he could not play again until 1997.
