| Reinforcements | Marcus Trescothick left the tour for personal reasons on
25 February. Coach Matthew Maynard had to field as
substitute at Vadorada as the only person available. Alastair
Cook
and James Anderson were flown to
India from England’s A tour, arriving in Nagpur on 26 February as cover for Michael
Vaughan and Simon Jones who eventually left the tour, both because
of knee injuries. Andrew Flintoff took over from Vaughan as captain After Marcus Trescothick had
gone home Owais Shah was called
into the squad as cover on 26 February because Collingwood and Pietersen were
suffering from back strains Gareth Batty, Sajid Mahmood, Owais
Shah and Vikram Solanki were added to the one-day side because Trescothick,
Vaughan, Simon Jones and Ashley Giles from the original squad of sixteen were
