Tenth Test-playing tour of Australia by India

       (previous tour 2011-12)

 

 

 

 

 

 

The start of the Test series was overshadowed by the death of Australian player Philip Hughes while batting in a Sheffield Shield match.

 

Following the drawn Test in Melbourne M S Dhoni retired from Test cricket owing to the strain of playing all formats of the game.

On 11 December  Dhawal Kulkarni was called up to replace Bhuveneshwar Kumar who was out of the Test series with an ankle injury, but remained in Australia.

Ravindra Jadeja was ruled out of the Test series by a shoulder injury and returned to India for treatment. Ashkar Patel took his place.

Ishant Sharma had to withdraw from the World Cup squad and returned home with a knee injury.  Mohit Sharma took his place
